It´s me, Mario! - Part 2

After rockin´ hard in the oldschool arcade games, Mario starred in the Mushroom Kingdom, found in a state of despair, caused by King Koopa (Bowser). This was the game Super Mario Bros., in which Mario and Luigi fought against Bowser´s minions to save Princess Peach Toadstool. It was a revolutionary game, and it built the fame we know today as Mario´s games style.

There were some famous sequels of this NES game: the Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, both for SNES. In Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario had adventures in a dreamland, and in 3, he fought against Bowser agains, but in much better graphics and gameplay, including the flying abilitie.
The next game, also for SNES, is probably the most famous one: Super Mario World. EVERYONE must have played this game once. The most notorious thing in this game is the arrival of Yoshi, Mario´s carryer in the game. Yoshi helps Mario to save the Dinosaur Land by swallowing his enemies and splitting shells and fire. He could also fly and perform an earth stomp.

Karasu the Puppet!

Greetings! In this (late) section, the weekly databank, I´ll say something about that random object that appears on the left (-->). Today´s theme is Karasu, the Puppet.


Karasu is a puppet fighter from the Naruto series. His owner, Kankuro, is a puppetmaster ninja.
He is not really a character; actually, he is an weapon, a ninja tool. He is Kankuro´s attack puppet, and it´s main tool.
Karasu has a great speed and a really creepy face. Although he´s made of wood, he´s very tough. Kankuro has set some traps and hidden weapons on him. Here they are:
* There´s a hidden knife on Karasu´s right hand.
*His left elbow shoots poison bombs.
*He can expose his metal-sharp ribs.
*He can unleash a kunai (japanese daggers) spray from his mouth
*He can easily disassemble himself, his arms, legs and head ejecting metal daggers from its extremities.
* He´s got a poisonous dagger in his mouth.

Well, I think that´s all about him. He´s only a terciary character, but he´s very cool (and spooky). Check Naruto episodes for seeing him in action!

Saturday Lights

Sorry about the error in the events order, I didn´t had time to post anything thursday, so this week Friday Lights will be on Saturday.

Too Much Thriller



Two days ago, Michael Jackson, the King of Pop in the USA, died in a hospital in LA. You probably know that; Jackson was a huge personality in the modern world.
Jackson´s life was full of eccentricities and scandals. After he started his early career, he became very famous in the 1970 decade. His most famous album, "Thriller", is still heard norwadays; but the most notable fact is not his music, but his worldwide famous dance (including the "moonwalk").
But Jackson had a trouble-full life recently. First, he had a cruel case of an ilness that affected his skin, causing him to have white stains in his body. He passed to a surgery and became all white-skinned; he has also changed his nose to look like a white guy. This was understood as a serious case of racism, which corrupted his image. To make things worse, he was accused of children molester (that was never confirmed).
Michael Jackson died at his fifty years. And, liking him or not, he will still be remembered for many years by the unconditional fans of the King of Pop.

Perfect World

Morning, boys and girls! Yesterday, a very sad thing happened; Michael Jackson died, and so did Farrah Fawcet. Well, I´ll post something about it tomorrow, because today our theme is Perfect World.

The game is developed by Beijing Perfect World, and today it is one famous MMORPG. To talk about the game, I went to a cyber cafe and experienced it myself. Well, here I got some informations about it:
It´s a fantasy world, where there are monsters, heroes and fantastic misteries. There are three races to choose: Winged Elves, who can be archers or priests; Humans, who can be blademasters or wizards; and Untamed, who can be barbarians and venomancers. Each race has it´s own cities and quests, but they are allied against one powerfull enemy.
The game´s graphics are not very good, but it doesn´t interfere in the fun. The gameplay is very good, and the flying combats with the Winged Elves are well developed. And, it has good quests; it´s not just killing monsters, like Ragnarok.
It´s not hard to get used to it; it has a very good and simple tutorial, and newbies will quickly become veterans.

Synopsis: In England, the daughter of Governor Swann, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) is kidnapped by pirates, because they believe that she is daughter of Bill Turner, and they need the blood of the Turner family to break their curse. Meanwhile, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) meets the pirate Jack Sparrow (Johny Deep), who wants his ship, the Black Pearl, back; Will, willing to rescue Elizabeth, agree to help Sparrow, and they both go in a quest to defeat Hector Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush). Adventure, Action.

Now, you probably have already seen this movie; it´s worldwide famous, and it has won five indications to the Academy Movie Awards (although it didn´t win any prize). But, what makes it so good? Well, there´s some theories.
First, is the reality. It´s not a real pirate tale, but it is very loyal to the age it happened and the sailing scenes are wondefull.
Second, is the special effects on the Black Pearl´s crew. The cursed zombies are very realistic.
Third, is the romance between Elizabeth and Will. Although some people don´t like romantic movies, a little love between characters aways make a story better.
And, for finishing, is him: Jack Sparrow! Or else, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. Deep has made an excelent work on him, and his crazy actions and permanently drunk state made the movie better than any other pirate movie. Well, my rank for The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is 8,5. And yours? Comment!

It´s me, Mario!

Yes, you surely know this one: the most famous plumber in the whole world, Mario a popular game icon norwadays. Born in an arcade game, today he has hundreds of games with his name on it. Well, take a deep breathe and let´s dive into Mario´s history.
Mario was born when Shigeru Miyamoto had a terrible problem at japanese Nintendo: the license of using Popeye in an arcade game was lost, with the game almost ready. So, Shigeru created Jumpman, who would be later called Mario; the gameplay was kept, but the character role was changed. So, mario starred at the game Donkey Kong.
In this game, Mario was a carpenter who had a girlfriend named Pauline and owned a monkey, Cranky Kong, later Donkey Kong. Mario mistreated the monkey, who one day got fed-up; he broke his cage and kidnapped Pauline. So, the game was all about rescuing Pauline and climbing to reach DK.
The game was a total success; there were many sequels to it, and also some copies for Atari. But now, let´s see what happened to the already famous Mario.
In this picture you can see a picture of Mario Bros. This was an arcade game where Mario appeared without Donkey Kong; also, it had the first appearance of Mario Brother, Luigi. It was a 2-player game, very simple: let the creeps kill your opponent before they do it to you. It had some similar sequels and copies too; it was also remade for Nintendo Entertainment Sistem (NES) and Super Nintendo Entertainment Sistem (SNES). At this time, Mario was already a plumber, as you can say by the pipes.
